The Tongue Was Made To Praise The Lord

Date: November 22, 1976

The tongue was made to praise the Lord
And praise Him day and night
To praise Him as we wake each morn
Oh Lord, My God, My Light

The clouds of evil passing by
May try to give us fright
But you are always by my side
Oh Lord, My God, My Light

This heart of mine was made to love
In love there is no fight
so give love for all mankind
Oh Lord, My God, My Light

The seeds of doubt now being sown
A scheme to blind our sight
Direct my vision, be my eyes
Oh Lord, My God, My Light

In time of weakness I may fall
Please hold my hand so tight
That when I trip, You’re holding fast
Oh Lord, My God, My Light

The hands were made for lifting up
To serve both black and white
Please keep me humble for their needs
Oh Lord, My God, My Light

I thank you Lord for loving me
And watching with delight
All those who turn to You in faith
Oh Lord, My God, My Light
